English Bites by Manish Gupta: Review

(*Complimentary review copy provided by author)

Being a Majors student in English, it's obvious that I absolutely love the language and the literature that comes with it! In fact, my love for literature was one of the main reasons that I chose to go for an English Honours course, following it up with a Post-Grad (Major) in English.

Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale: On The Cover

Charlotte Kinder's husband has just left her for another woman. Another woman called 'Justice.' Charloette is in desperate need of a change of scenery and luckily, her travel agent has just the thing: two weeks at Pembrook Park in England, where it is always 1816, and ladies are wooed by actors dressed as proper gentleman.

Everyone at Pembrook Park is playing a role, but Charlotte isn't sure where roles end and reality begins. Hears are racing and stomachs fluttering in a tangle of intrigues that's increasingly tough to sort out. It's midnight in Austenland, and Charlotte is about to prove herself a heroine worthy of Austen.

'A welcome, wittyglimpse of a side of Austen rarely exposed' Publishers Weekly

'The kind of book to read on those days you just want to wrap up in a blanket and eat three pounds of chocolate' Deseret News

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that

Back to classics it is with Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, and here's the page I'm at right now...

I divined that my coming had stopped conversation in the room, and that its other occupants were looking at me. I could see nothing of the room except the shining of the fire in the window-glass, but I stiffened in all my joints with the consciousness that I was under close inspection.

Recent Book Haul: Flipkart.com and Amazon.in

Of course I can never stick to my plan or promise of not buying books for some time, can I? And especially when Amazon has finally launched in India, it was surely another ploy to tempt me...not that I would need much tempting when it comes to books ;-)

So here are the books that I just recently bought online......Flipkart.com and Amazon.in

Okay, so I haven't yet read any of the books in the Harry Potter series, reason being I didn't really find the movies that good. I only watched the first one and liked it, but from the second one, my interest had waned. And then I didn't watch any of the remaining ones.
