Parenting: Illustrated With Crappy Pictures by Amber Dusick

Recently, I received this weirdly titled book from one of the PR firms. At first look, it was actually quite amusing, I mean, who writes a book with a title like Parenting: Illustrated With Crappy Pictures. Apparently, this mommy nameed Amber Dusick has gone ahead and done just that....

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: On The Cover

So finally I start reading THE The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I'm not sure if a 30-something is expected to be reading this and I'm not sure if a 30-something is expected to be enjoying this, but if you're wondering, I'm ABSOLUTELY loving this book!

And this brings me to wonder about the kind of games that are played in the publishing industry world over. I mean, how much did you hear about the series The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer? Loads and loads and a huge overdose, right? At least I did......And what a disappointment it actually turned out to be...Though I did like the first book, I found the quality dwindling from the second and by the time I reached the last book in the series, I had already lost all interest. And I don't even want to talk about the movie adaptations - so pathetic, huh!

Eleanor Catton Becomes Youngest Booker Winner For The Luminaries

Eleanor Catton won the Booker Prize for her book 'The Luminaries' on the 15th of October 2013, becoming, at 28, the youngest Booker Prize winner in the history of Britain's most prestigious book award.

Born in Canada and raised in New Zealand, she started working on the novel when she was 25 and completed it at 27. Though stunned at being announced the winner and describing her work as 'a publisher's nightmare', the book was described as 'dazzling' by the jury.

With 848 pages to read, the book is also the longest book to ever have won a Booker.

Her first novel, 'The Rehearsal', was nominated for various awards including the Orange Prize and the Dylan Thomas Prize.

The Catcher In The Rye by J D Salinger: Review

Okay, so the book I'm going to talk about today is the hugely controversial cult classic The Catcher in The Rye by J D Salinger.

Written in the year 1951, the book was originally meant only for adults, but became hugely popular with teenagers and adolescents alike, due to the theme of teenage angst, rebellion and isolation that runs throughout the story. The Catcher in The Rye has become one of the biggest literary names ever, with translations in almost all major languages of the world, and the book also made a compulsory reading in various courses.

The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory: On The Cover

I've recently started reading this lovely book called The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory. The book is the first in a series of 6 books that all talk about the royal Tudor rule in England. About a 100 pages down and I guess I'd be going for the rest of the series as well....

For now, here's what's on the cover:

Killing Floor by Lee Child: On The Cover

This is the second Jack Reacher novel I'm reading in the series by author Lee Child, the first being The Affair that's actually 'before' the happenings of the first book that is Killing Floor. I was so impressed with The Affair that I knew I would end up reading all in the series.

For the moment, here's what's on the cover of the one I'm reading right now, Killing Floor....do read it, as expected, it's awesome!

The Debt & The Doormat by Laura Barnard: On The Cover

the lovely author Laura Barnard with her debut novel The Debt & The Doormat

Author Laura Barnard reached out to me asking if I would like to talk about her debut novel The Debt & The Doormat. One look at the cover and the blurb and I knew this would be an interesting chic-lit novel to have, especially for those light, fun reads when you want something lovely yet light to read and enjoy.
